Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Training Series

Are you looking for a way to help individuals in your community? We serve palliative and hospice care patients and families wherever they call home and have a wide range of volunteer opportunities to fit your talents, interests, and schedule. There are many virtual and face-to-face opportunities available at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, the Medina Inpatient Unit and Life’s Treasures Thrift Shop in Medina, and the David Simpson Hospice House and our Headquarters office in Cleveland. We usually hold two virtual training series each month. Upcoming training sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays & Thursdays — September 6, 8, 13, and 15 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and Saturdays — September 17 and 24 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Registration for a specific series is contingent on meeting pre-registration requirements which include completing an application, criminal background check, and pre-screening interview. Doan Brook Watershed Partnership Family Fishing Workshops
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Join Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors for fun, family-friendly fishing Saturday, May 7th from 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm. We’ll cover the basics from tackle and technique to casting, fish ID, and handling. We’ll even show you how to clean and prepare your catch. After learning the basics, everyone can test their luck fishing for stocked catfish and bluegill in the beautiful Rockefeller Lagoon. Bring your own rod and reel or borrow one of ours. Bait will be provided. Participants should bring a cooler and ice if they plan to keep their catches. No fishing license is required to fish in the lagoon.
