Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education regular meeting highlights 8-6-2019

Members present were President Jodi Sourini, Vice President James Posch, Dan Heintz, Malia Lewis and Beverly Wright. Also present were Superintendent Elizabeth Kirby and Treasurer Scott Gainer. The meeting began at 7 p.m. and ended at 7:50 p.m. 

Recognitions 

The board thanked Dr. Brian Williams for acting as interim superintendent. They also congratulated the summer graduation class of fourteen students.

Board policy approvals

The board unanimously approved the final fifteen policy changes. These are the last of the policy changes they have worked on for the past year.

Treasurer’s five-year forecast

Mr. Gainer presented the five-year forecast and commented on it. The EdChoice voucher program will cost the district about $4 million from 2019 to 2020.

The levy that passed in November 2016 was calculated to last three years but has lasted four years.

Middle schools facilities update

The middle schools construction is on time and on budget. Public open houses will be held at Monticello Middle School on Sept. 15 and at Roxboro Middle School on Sept. 22. Both are from 1 to 4 p.m.

The next meeting is a regular meeting Sept. 3, 2019. All meetings are held at the board of education offices at 7 p.m.
