Cedar Fairmount Fall Family Festival scheduled for Oct. 22

The Cedar Fairmount Fall Family Festival, offering free entertainment for adults and children, is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 22, noon to 5 p.m. The event will celebrate the completion of the Cedar Fairmount Streetscape.

This year, many festival activities will take place in the parking lot behind the Heights Medical building. Many popular events, musicians and entertainers who have appeared at past festivals are slated to return. Attendees can enjoy music with Monkey Kats, Get Back Duo, Old Boy, Mark Goldman, and Alex Trawon throughout the day. The Fairmount Cocktail Bar will host a beer garden, with Old Boy scheduled to perform at 5:30 p.m. Local artisans will display their wares in tents around the Heights Medical parking lot, offering handcrafted jewelry, pottery, glass, clothing and more.

The popular Euclid Beach Rocket Car will offer free rides from noon to 4:30 p.m., departing from the Firestone Tire parking lot. There will be bounce and monster houses, and games for children. Whipples the Clown will make balloon animals and another clown, Tiffani, will offer face painting. Cleveland Metro Parks will bring its NatureTracks vehicle, and the popular Cleveland Heights fire truck and firemen, as well as Cleveland Heights police and canine unit, will again participate.

Among the new features at this year's festival are the Cleveland Museum of Art's Studio Go, and the Cleveland Water Buggy. Appletree Books will become "Super Hero Headquarters," and Aladdin’s Eatery will host pumpkin decorating.

Stores and exhibitors that display felt pumpkins will welcome costumed children for trick-or-treating. Spider-Man, Batman, Super Woman, Moana, and Captain Hook, will be available for photos. At 4 p.m., children are invited to participate in a costume contest in the Heights Medical Building parking lot; prizes will be awarded for funniest, most original, and scariest costumes. Participants should assemble at the Cedar Fairmount tent.

Hugh and Deanna Fisher will lead bus tours of the Euclid Heights Golf District, departing from the Alcazar at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. For more information, consult the Eventbrite page. Cedarwood Plaza Skilled Nursing Home will also host tours of its facility, at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The Cedar Fairmount festival is sponsored by a matching grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, the Cedar Fairmount SID, Cedar Fairmount building owners, and Cedar Fairmount Business District merchants.
