CH-UH Board of Education schedules special community forum for Monday, July 16

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District announced on July 12 that the CH-UH Board of Education has scheduled a special community forum on Monday, July 16, 7–8:15 p.m. The forum will be held in in the Social Room of Cleveland Heights High School, 13263 Cedar Road, Cleveland Heights.

According to the district's announcement, "The Forum will provide residents an opportunity to express their comments and opinions regarding the Community Facilities Plan before the Board makes a final determination on Tuesday, July 17."

Angee Shaker, director of communications for the CH-UH City School district, commented, "The members of the Board of Education have heard, and continue to hear, from community members as they share their opinions regarding our schools, our school buildings, and the Community Facilities Plan. Tuesday’s [July 17] Board meeting will include the final reading of the resolution to place a bond issue on the ballot; it is not final until then. Before that happens, the Board wanted to give community members one more opportunity to have their opinions heard."

At its July 3 meeting, the board voted 3-2 to approve the district's master facilities plan (Plan C). The board also voted 3-2 to declare the necessity of placing a $130.6 million school facilities improvement bond on the November ballot.

At the board's July 17 work session, Superintendent Doug Heuer will present a resolution to the board with the millage and final ballot language, and the board will vote whether or not to approve them. If approved, the treasurer would submit the resolution to the county board of elections prior to the July 31 deadline. The board must approve the resolution in order for the bond issue to appear on the the November ballot.
