District seeks new principals for Gearity and Fairfax elementary schools; requests community input
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District seeks to fill principal positions at Gearity and Fairfax schools. To ensure the right candidate is selected, the district encourages staff, parents, students and the community to participate in two online surveys and share their thoughts about an ideal principal. Individuals may access the surveys through July 11 at:

“It’s essential we find the best candidate,” Superintendent Doug Heuer said. “The search has already begun, but we will take our time and consider staff, parents, students, and the community’s feelings.”
Individuals interested in applying for the Gearity or Fairfax principal positions may view the position descriptions online here.
Sherry Miller, former Gearity Elementary principal, will begin in her new role as principal of Hilltop Elementary School in the Beachwood School District in the fall.
In a letter to staff and parents, Miller wrote, "While it is not easy for me to leave Gearity, I leave knowing that we have accomplished a great deal together. I am extremely proud of our strong and caring family, devoted to our students. We are lucky to have dedicated teachers who are prepared to successfully implement a STEM/Discovery pathway this fall."
Fairfax Principal Michael Wasser, a former McDonald School District superintendent, will transition to an administration position within the district’s educational services department.
“By working in our educational services department, Mr. Wasser can contribute to our students’ educations in bigger ways,” Heuer said. “His experience working with McDonald School District’s continuous improvement plan, and with federal government programs, will serve our students well.”
