Second CH-UH facilities master plan community meeting is Jan. 11

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District will hold its second facilities master plan community meeting from 6:30–8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the Heights High Social Room, located at 13263 Cedar Rd. The district encourages parents, students and members of the community to attend. Food, childcare, and activities for children will be provided.

District leaders, with facilities master plan architects Fielding Nair International and studioTECHNE, will provide an overview of the district’s educational vision and how the district’s educational vision informs grade configuration, buildings and learning campuses. The architects will share the input collected from the Nov. 30 meeting and subsequent surveys. Following their presentation, the community will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the ideas presented and discuss the next phase of the planning process.

About the facilities master plan community project

In 2011, a School Facilities Committee, comprised of residents, teachers, and administrators, validated a report from the Ohio School Facilities Commission that stated district facilities were outdated, inefficient and in need of renovation or replacement.

Recognizing the need for renovation and the importance of collaborating with the community to ensure the updated facilities will benefit everyone, the district hosted approximately 100 interested citizens at the first facilities master plan community meeting Nov. 30, 2011, to collect information about priorities and values. The district also hired three architectural firms to guide the planning process and build the final design.

A third community meeting is scheduled for March 21 in the Heights High Social Room.
