Cleveland Heights issues request for development at Meadowbrook and Lee

The City of Cleveland Heights has issued a Request for Development Proposal (RFDP) for the vacant site at Meadowbrook Boulevard and Lee Road. According to the RFDP, the city is seeking a project of landmark quality with uses that increase the district’s vitality and significantly add to the city’s tax base.

Bordered by Lee Road, Tullamore Road and Meadowbrook Boulevard, the 38,930–square-foot property is in the heart of the pedestrian-friendly Cedar Lee business district. It is zoned as a C-2X Multiple Use District, and may include offices, lab space, housing, restaurants, services and retail.

In 2006, The City of Cleveland Heights built a 377-space parking facility across Tullamore Road from the site so that it could hold more development. Eighty-two spaces in a secured, enclosed area of the garage were intended as private parking for the site.

Plans for a retail and housing development on the site fell through at the beginning of the recession. The City of Cleveland Heights purchased a portion of the property that had been owned by Ohio Savings Bank earlier this year, enabling the city to offer the entire site for development.

Consultants interested in responding to the RFDP should reply with a proposal no later than 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24 to Howard Thompson, economic development director, at Cleveland Heights City Hall, 40 Severance Circle.
