CH-UH schools are growing and grooming master teachers
Fifteen Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District teachers have earned the State of Ohio Master Teacher designation.
A master teacher demonstrates excellence inside and outside the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning as specified by The Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession. A master teacher also strives for distinguished teaching and continued professional growth.
Earning the master teacher designation entitles recipients to receive a senior professional educator license within five years upon their next license renewal.
The CH-UH school district initiated a program to help its teachers earn the master teacher designation. During the last year, master teacher candidates worked together to compile master teacher portfolios, which included assessing and providing feedback to each other. Participants in the program also had in-depth discussions centered on the art of teaching and student learning.
The new CH-UH master teachers are: Lorna Askew (Bellefaire School); Kim Boehm (Roxboro Middle School); Marion Ciepluch (Bellefaire); Sabastianna Costanzo (Bellefaire); Melissa Egbert (Cleveland Heights High School); Anna Gregory (Monticello Middle School); Yolanda Harris (Board of Education); Marcy Joublanc (Heights High); Sarah Lambert (Oxford Elementary); Kathy Lawrence (Heights High); Rob Maier (Roxboro Middle School); Claudene McCoy (Roxboro); Lia Radke (Roxboro); Karlene Sa’ad (Boulevard Elementary School); Anisha Shapiro (Monticello).
Information about the master teacher program is available on the CH-UH City School District website, www.chuh.org, under the “For Staff” tab.
