Neubert Painting seeks recipient for charity paint-job giveaway

For the third year, Neubert Painting–a Lakewood-based residential painting contractor–will give away a $10,000 house-painting job to a homeowner or organization that needs and deserves it.

Founded in 1975, Neubert Painting began the Charity Paint Giveaway in 2008, when it repainted the exterior of the home of a disabled Lakewood woman who volunteers with her dog to provide pet therapy for shut-ins. The 2009 project was Providence House, an Ohio City crisis nursery. Providence House takes in more than 200 infants a year, providing them with love and shelter while its staff and volunteers work to rehabilitate and teach good parenting skills to the parents.

In that second year, other sponsors joined the effort: Sherwin-Williams provided paint and other materials; Sunbelt Rentals donated use of a 60-foot lift to allow painters to reach the building’s high peaks; and Einstein Bagels and Chipotle donated food for 100 volunteers. “It was truly a community effort,” said John Neubert, owner of Neubert Painting. “I was really moved by how hard our volunteers worked on this large project.”

To commemorate the project, William Mannion, a Bay Village watercolor artist, created a watercolor rendering of the freshly painted Providence House, which was then presented to the facility. Mannion has agreed to do the same for this year’s project recipient.

Neubert is now accepting nominations for this year’s paint-job giveaway. If you know of a homeowner or nonprofit organization anywhere in the region that needs the work but cannot afford it, visit www.NeubertPainting.com to fill out an online nomination form. Nominations are due by June 1.

The project will be carried out on Aug. 3, weather permitting. This year’s sponsors are Sherwin-Williams, Einstein Bagels and Chic-Fil-A.

Don Milewski is operations manager of Neubert Painting.
