CH-UH schools announce new assistant superintendent and principal reassignments
Jefferery Talbert named new Assistant Superintendent at CH-UH
“I am looking forward to working with Mr. Talbert. His experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator will make him a valuable addition to the CH-UH district,” Superintendent Doug Heuer said. “As assistant superintendent, Mr. Talbert will be a crucial component of my administration. He will help us continue to advance education in this district so that we are providing 21st-century skills, continuing to improve individual student achievement, and closing the achievement gap.”
Talbert has an extensive career in education. He began as a special education teacher at Glen Oak High School in 1996. He was then assistant principal at Woodridge Middle School in Peninsula, Ohio. Following Woodridge, Talbert spent two years as a house leader for the Canton City School District’s Freshman Academy, and in 2004 he became the principal of Maple Heights High School. Talbert then moved on to be campus principal at Canton McKinley High School. “I am extremely excited to be joining the CH-UH staff and teachers. The district stands out in Ohio for its progress in the classroom and its exceptional programming,” Talbert said.
Also at the board meeting, Superintendent Heuer announced two principal reassignments for next school year. The board approved the resignation of current Monticello Middle School Principal Sheldon Smith. Smith will finish out the school year at Monticello.
At the start of the next school year, current Roxboro Middle School Principal Brian Sharosky will begin leading Monticello Middle School.
“Mr. Sharosky has the skill set necessary to work with Monticello staff to improve their academic performance, which is currently in academic watch. Presently, the building where he is serving is operating at a higher level, and we feel Monticello can improve under his leadership in a short amount of time.”
Superintendent Heuer also announced current small school P.R.I.D.E. Principal Patrick McNichols has been reassigned to Roxboro Middle School in the fall.
“Mr. McNichols has a history of showing steady improvement at P.R.I.D.E. School and has a lot of background in international education. We believe he can provide the leadership, and he has the skills, to develop in collaboration with Roxboro Elementary an international baccalaureate campus.” CH-UH has already initiated a Mandarin Chinese Program through a partnership with the Confucius Institute of Cleveland State, and Capitol University in Beijing.
The open principal position at P.R.I.D.E. will be posted this week.
