Home Repair Resource Center offers "hands-on" workshops

In this current economic climate, it is more important than ever to spend your home repair dollars wisely. One way to save money can be to do the work yourself. Home Repair Resource Center offers free classes that give you an opportunity to practice using the tools and techniques you’ll need for the job. Reservations are requested; call 381-9560 for information and to save your spot for the following workshops:

Furnaces & Boilers (lecture class) Monday, September 8, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn what to look for in a new heating system and what routine maintenance you can do yourself.

Insulation Monday, September 15, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to work with various types of insulation and where each is most appropriate

Glazing & Winterizing Windows Monday, September 22, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to make your windows air-tight this winter.

Caulking & Weatherization Saturday, September 27, 10 a.m. – noon

Learn how to seal those hidden heat leaks that let warm air escape and cold air enter.

Drywall Installation Monday, October 6, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to measure, cut, install and finish drywall, ready for paint or wallpaper.

Plaster Repair Monday, October 13, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to repair common plaster problems, from small cracks to large areas damaged by water.

Interior Painting Monday, October 20, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to select paint, prepare the wall, and end up with a better paint job.

Ceramic Tile Monday, October 27, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn how to lay out and space tiles, cut pieces for edges or around fixtures, and maintain and repair a tiled surface.
