What new business would you like to see in the former Myxx space at Cedar Fairmount?
Some sort of art studio - something like what Studio You was over in Cedar Lee. Some place that would draw people in and keep them in the area. Not for food, but for an activity.
-
Bowling alley!! Fun for the whole family. With a restaurant and bar like the Freeway Lanes!
-
an indoor pool
-
specialty food and cafe. a mix of groceries and in-house dining.
-
upscale retail like Nordstrom or a better fitness center
-
Recording studio; or
Gymnastics studio; or
Indoor soccer field/futsol field; or
Newcomer welcome center for immigrants to the area; or ... a reincarnation of Studio You or a bowling alley would both be welcome additions to the community
-
I would like to see a good Italian restaurant. Dewey's is good, but it's just pizza. Marotta's is tiny (and I don't like it very much anyway.) Other Italian stuff would be good too.
-
B spot! or i like a small bowling alley for more destination-style entertainment.
-
We would like to see a clothing store again like Best & Co. or Wind at Your Back.
-
Pet Store
-
1. upscale restaurant
2. bowling alley w/o a bar, or if there is a bar, make sure it is small & doesn't take away from a "family friendly" atmosphere; of course, no smoking anywhere near it; keep it clean and not cheap-looking
-
I second the Bowling alley idea. There's a need for family recreation in the Heights.
-
Trader Joe's
Drug store
-
JENI'S!

-
catered training center for technical training/seminar/discussion group use; reception/banquet hall: e.g. continuing education presentations, book groups, art classes, wedding reception all with in-house catered food.
-
Cleveland Heights could use a steam table restaurant, either Indian or Chinese food, to balance out the mix between table service restaurants and take out joints in town. Such an establishment would provide healthy food (ie.: not deep fried) for families with young children and those for whom a table service is too expensive.
-
Trader Joe's Market would be wonderful!
-
Bike repair/rental shop. Specialty grocery for those who used to shop at Russo's. How about a DIY dog wash?
-
I love the bowling alley idea... thought that would have been great across from Melt too.
-
Public kitchen facility w/ dining area, for urban/home farmers to use to bring produce to next step food prep of freezing, canning, making sauces for resale/longevity of produce. And have guest/celebrity chefs teach/showcased there--classes, lectures, tastings etc.
-
Love the bowling alley idea! Keep it family friendly.
-
a bowling alley sounds good!
-
Upscale clothing resale store for adults - recycle those gorgeous pieces only worn once or twice!
-
How about a salad bar restaurant (like Soup'r Salad, Soup Plantation). We see these traveling in other cities, but have not seen one anywhere in NE Ohio.
-
a fitness center or gym!
-
Considering the size of the space -- a bowling alley sounds like a good idea.
However, I myself would prefer the space for the food prep idea -- public hookups for WIFI, etc. are available many places, but there is no availability for public use of a microwave for those on the go far from home who might want a hot meal. Also, non-profit groups that used to do food prep for the homeless or others at the Food Co-Op would have a new spot for their activities.
-
How about a mixed-use fair trade/import "mall" for the diverse peoples represented in the Heights? It could have variety of stalls with foods, clothes, crafts, etc. for vendors along the lines of an indoor street-fair.
-
i love the bowling alley ideas -- i imagine something like the one downtown. I think it would be a hit if it mixed bowling with good pub food.
