Saving Our Older Cities

Robin Dubin, Ph.D., Professor Emerita, Department of Economics, Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University will present a Lunch and Learn talk on “Saving Our Older Cities” at Beth El –The Heights Synagogue after services (about 12:15 PM) on Saturday, March 16. The luncheon and talk are free and open to all. The synagogue is located at 2146 Desota Ave., Cleveland Heights 44118.

Robin states, “The foreclosure crisis wreaked havoc on many American cities; Detroit, Flint, Youngstown and Cleveland are prime examples. Dubin will talk about an idea for remedying this problem. The proposal is to use voluntary moves (as opposed to eminent domain) to re-concentrate the existing population into population centers. The presentation will go into the costs and benefits of this approach. --
