Cedar Fairmount Hard Hat Happy Hour
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Come get your #CedarFairmountHardHat at the Cedar Fairmount Hard Hat Happy Hour from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 28! Merchants will offer specials to all who purchase a Hard Hat Happy Hour hat and wear it during the event. There will be children’s activities, music, hard hat decorating, a raffle, cupcake decorating, and fun for all. Look for the two Hard Hat stations, one at Howard Hanna and one in front of The Fairmount to participate. Hard Hat Happy Hour is one of a series of events designed to help support Cedar Fairmount businesses during the streetscape construction.

LET US NOT FORGET: Panel Discussion on Fair Housing
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Join Heights Community Congress and our co-sponsors, Heights Libraries and the SEL Experience Project, in a moderated panel discussion to examine the impact of the Fair Housing Act on the lives of real people. Our panelists will share their personal stories of the real effects of housing discrimination today, followed by a moderated Q & A/Discussion session. We'll wrap up with a celebration of HCC's accomplishments taking on Zillow, Trulia, and Educational Redlining.

Our panelists will be:

* Barbara Anderson, Executive Director of Another Chance of Ohio, will talk about her personal experience with fair housing and the efforts to "keep me out of my house!"

* Michael R. Lisman, Consumer Educator and Financial Empowerment Coach, will speak about the economic (psyche-& socio) impact of "defacto segregation in a modern democracy

* Henry Stoudermire, Realtor, will talk about the experiences of homebuyers trying to get home purchase financing and the difficulty of obtaining it.

* Sally Martin from the SEL Experience Project, will introduce the panel.

Owl Prowl - Walking Tour
7:30 PM
Starting at the Lake View Cemetery Community Mausoleum, this joint project with The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and the Cleveland Metroparks will look at the many different owls that make Northeast Ohio their home. After a short presentation with live owls, venture out with staff to find owls who have made their home at LVC. Reservations required. $15.00 per person.
