Jazz Vespers at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
5:00 PM
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church hosts a service of Jazz Vespers, led by Paul Ferguson and a jazz combo with special guest soprano Sandra Simon on Sunday, May 3, at 5 p.m.

For this Evening Prayer service, Ferguson is writing new music based on lyrics written by St. Paul’s Interim Rector, the Rev. Dr. Harold T. Lewis. The jazz combo will also perform music from Ferguson’s new CD Encounter, which features the music he has written for the services at St. Paul’s over the years. This is the eighth year that Ferguson has offered a jazz service at the Cleveland Heights parish.

Ferguson is Director of Jazz Studies at Case Western Reserve University and Associate Artistic Director of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. He enjoys a varied career as a performer making guest appearances in musical events around town.

The jazz combo will feature Ferguson on trombone, Jack Schantz on trumpet, Dave Morgan on bass, Jim Rupp on drums, and will be augmented by violin and French horn.

Jazz Vespers is made possible by a grant from The ACT II Shop, a resale shop located on the lower level of St. Paul’s.

Jazz Vespers is free and open to the public.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 2747 Fairmount Blvd. (at Coventry)
