YOGA FOR KIDS – Loving Hands Yoga

Loving Hands Yoga and Reiki, in coordination with Family Connections, is offering a new yoga class for kids! The class is open to kids age 3 and up, and pre-crawling babies. Mommies, daddies and caretakers are also welcome to join in and do yoga with the kids!
Yoga For Kids teaches yoga poses while encouraging children to explore their creativity in an active, fun, and safe way. We use age-appropriate movement, games, music, and quiet time to help children exercise their bodies, strengthen their imaginations, connect with their inner selves, and develop a harmonious relationship with the world around them.
We also teach children how to bring calm to their minds and bodies through breathing and relaxation exercises. We honor the individuality of each child by creating a positive, supportive, and non-competitive environment where we use acceptance and patience to build confidence.
5 week session, Tuesday mornings 11:15 am – 12:00 noon, July 17-August 14. The cost is $60 per family (no limit on the number of kids/family members/caretakers). If you join after the session starts, you only need to pay for the remaining classes. Makeup classes can be scheduled if you need to miss a class. Please bring a yoga mat for each person, and wear comfortable clothing that allows movement.

Pop up Poetry with Shelley Chernin & Friends

Heights Writes, the literary planning committee of Heights Arts which appoints the Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate, has launched "Pop-Up-Poetry," a series of summer poetry events.
Pop Up arts events, very big in Europe, are now sweeping the U.S. Here today, gone tomorrow, pop-ups are one-of-a-kind, memorable experiences that cultivate the unexpected and the spontaneous and encourage audience participation. In fact, pop-ups blur traditional boundaries between artist and audience. Attendees, just by virtue of being there, are making art, and are also likely to sing, dance, and make music.

Bring your pooch and enjoy great food and craft beer on the patio! A dollar from every draft beer sold will be donated to PAWS and we will celebrate rain or shine. Please leave your pups at home if the skies look gloomy, health regulations prohibit animals inside the building. Come out for a night of fun. We will be showcasing our adoptables and we will have doggie raffle baskets!
The third Tuesday of every month from 4-9 pm.

We often hear that living in the moment connects us to our deeper selves. Staying close to focused, real world experiences as we write also helps us to make this deep connection and to communicate our experiences in powerful ways. In this workshop, we will learn how to
isolate moments to write from, then turn these moments into compelling prose or poetry. We will each leave with 1-2 short pieces of writing and a process for continuing to write in a way that connects us to our emotional core as well as the everyday world of our senses. Appropriate for beginning and intermediate writers interested in poetry, memoir, journaling or personal essay.
Registration deadline: July 13 at 5pm

Yoga and Reiki *FREE* Loving Hands Yoga
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Both yoga and Reiki provide physical improvement, relaxation, stress relief and mental clarity; so they are natural complements to each other. As we flow through our yoga poses we discuss the principles of these two healing paths, and weave the philosophies into our practice. We focus on balancing our energy on the physical, mental, and emotional levels. We end the class with a Reiki treatment during our Savasana pose. This is an active level class, perfect for those with previous yoga experience or those who are already fairly physically fit. No previous Reiki experience is necessary. Every third class is a slow-flowing Yin Yoga class, which helps to open joints and targets connective tissue. The slow pace allows us to have more intensive Reiki treatments throughout the class. The Yin classes help to balance the Yang energy of the flowing classes.
