Shaker Farm Historic District
4:00 PM
Illustrated lecture on the Shaker Farm Historic District by Mary Dunbar. This Cleveland Heights historic district is essentially the northern third of the farmland owned by the North Union Shaker Community between 1822 and 1892. Its development, largely between 1910 and 1919, set the stage for the development of the southern portion of the Shaker farmland in the 1920s as Shaker Heights. The talk is part of a series that the Shaker Historical Museum is offering in honor of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Shaker Heights, which broke off from Cleveland Heights in 1912.
Dunbar led the team that submitted the application for the Shaker Farm Historic District to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The application is expected to be finalized and accepted by the Keeper of the Register by the end of March.
Location:
Shaker Historical Museum at 16740 South Park Boulevard in Shaker Heights
