Shop at Whole Foods today and Heights Arts receives 5% of the proceeds
This 5% Day will launch Fencepiration, a Heights Arts temporary public art project in partnership with Whole Foods, The Coral Company, and The City of South Euclid. Artists Carol Hummel and Debbie Apple Presser will engage community members in transforming a utilitarian construction fence on Cedar Road into a visually stimulating, inspiring, and attractive streetscape element during the construction process for the north side of Cedar Center. Fencepiration will create dynamic art using only recycled materials (and re-recycle them upon completion). A prototype will be on display during 5% Day.
Free arty activities in the Whole Foods Café during the day will include:
11am-1pm: Create elements for Fencepiration with Debbie Apple Presser
5 pm: Chamber music performed by Charles Bernard, Sonja Braaten, Sae Shiragami, and Isabel Trautwein, all Cleveland Orchestra musicians
6 pm: South Euclid Mayor Georgine Welo and officials from the City of South Euclid will be at Whole Foods to officially launch Fencepiration. Those in attendance will enjoy complimentary canned beverages which - after rinsing - will be integrated into the piece!
6-8 pm: Create elements for Fencepiration with Debbie Apple Presser
7 pm: Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate Gail Bellamy reads poems about food
Shoppers will also be greeted by Food Haiku sprinkled about the store and painted heart pins offered for sale by students at Boulevard Elementary School to support relief efforts in Haiti.
Location:
Whole Foods Market
13998 Cedar Rd
