All the Sad Young Literary Men
Keith Gessen, author of All the Sad Literary Men (Viking Penguin, 2008) will read and sign books at Mac’s Backs~ Books on Coventry in Cleveland Heights on Thursday, May 8th at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Keith Gessen’s first novel All the Sad Literary Men centers on three young men scrambling towards literary careers and meaningful relationships. The characters have little in common outside of their quest for fame. Witty and ironic, Kirkus calls the writing black comedy, which “strikes a marvelous balance between pitilessness and affection toward these young men, and manages the impressive feat of being simultaneously savage and tender.” Andrew O’Hagan, writing for the New York Times Book Review observed: “the ambition of young literary Americans is a kind of trench warfare, and Gessen, an editor of the magazine n+1, proves himself not only a capable observer but a natural novelist with a warm gun.”
